Tigers and Tattoos is a 45 minute film for very young cinema audiences but with wide appeal. This foray into the life of May, a young girl living with her tattoo-artist uncle Sonny, dares to push the boundary of storytelling for very young audience and challenges the normative concept of family in a story of diversity, humor and quirky characters. It’s both entertaining, thematically valuable, while at the same time speaking to it’s audience firmly at eye level.

Over 4 years have passed since director Esben Toft Jacobsen pitched the project at Nordic Talents, at the end of his stint at the Danish Film School, and a little over 3 years since producer Petter Lindblad teamed up with them to produce the feature film THE GREAT BEAR.
With a lot of hard work, a dedicated team and long hours at the studio, this year sees them following the film to Berlin for its first showing on the big screen. Esben has competed at the Berlinale once before, where he received a special mention for his short film HAVING A BROTHER. Petter, likewise, has already established his expertise at producing high quality, low budget animation films in Europe, having delivered multiple speeches on the subject and recently achieving widespread success with his previous feature film THE APPLE & THE WORM which screened in many countries all over the world.
The world premiere of THE GREAT BEAR in Berlin marks the first opportunity for them to present this latest project to an international audience. Copenhagen Bombay is the animation studio behind the new animated sitcom The Pandas, created by Wulffmorgenthaler.
The Pandas is the dysfunctional panda-family counting; Tommy the pathetic and naive dad, Debbie the huffish and depressed mom who loves TV, coctails and Nutella. Vanessa, the cynical and constantly texting teenage daughter with new silicone tits, and the innocent youngest son Conrad, who always keeps asking too many questions.
In this wicked and satirical series, the Pandas live their daily lives, struggling with all the usual concerns, as any other modern family of today.
The Pandas will air weekly on DR2 from January 19th 2011
