Copenhagen Bombay was founded in 2006 by film director Anders Morgenthaler and producer Sarita Christensen. Their ambition with the company was to create a production company and animation studio with a special focus on entertainment for children and young people.
By giving special attention to new talents and original stories the idea of the company was soon to be seen. In 2008 the film Carsten & Gitte’s Movie Madness was launched in the Danish cinemas, marking the beginning of a new approach, and the beginning of Copenhagen Bombay’s first original brand.
Today Copenhagen Bombay’s projects are to be found in the cinemas, on TV, in bookstores, on DVD’s and on the web, and the list of new strong brands is continually expanding.
At the moment Copenhagen Bombay is completing Esben Toft Jacobsens debut feature film, the animated adventure film THE GREAT BEAR (2011). It is being co-produced with Film i Väst through CBs Swedish company CB Sverige AB, and has received support from the Nordic Film- and TV-Fund, as well as the Danish Film Institute and in co-operation with DR.
In production at the moment are the animated TV series THE PANDAS and the second season of the puppet show CARSTEN & GITTE'S FUNKY-TONKY TREEHOUSE, both produced in cooperation with DR.
At Copenhagen Bombay we believe great stories to be the keys to open multi-platform universes. We also believe in challenging our ideas in order to intergrate new technologies and new business partners to push our products further. We develop book formats, games, web and toys as well as retail and mobile universes.
